Hello,

Hope you had a lovely summer.

I took a short trip up to Maine with my family (love those lobster rolls and the beautiful coastline), and then we went to San Diego, my hometown, to visit my amazing 92 year old mother and spend time with dear friends.

The workshop production in late May of She Takes Flight: A Work in Progress, about the lives of five women of a certain age, which I produced with my theater company, Chrysalis, at The Chain Theatre in New York City, was a big success!

We performed for two nights to a sold out audience, from whom we received wonderful feedback and encouragement.

In October, we’ll begin meeting to continue developing the script for a full production in the spring at The Chain Theatre.

Wishing you an engaging fall, doing what you love with people who bring you joy.

My favorite thing to do in the autumn is to walk in the park and look up at the trees with their leaves of many colors, breathe in the cool air, while I listen to a good podcast.

Here are two that I highly recommend:

  1. Wiser Than Me with Julia Louis-Dreyfus: great conversations with older women sharing their experiences

  2. The Mel Robbins Podcast: funny and smart with helpful tools for living a meaningful, healthy life

    More to Come Soon…🙂🍁🎃

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME…

I live in New York City with my husband and two daughters. I was raised in San Diego, and I grew up riding horses. I got my MFA in acting from American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. After I graduated, I started writing, producing, teaching, and marching for gun violence prevention.

Most recently, I performed my critically acclaimed new solo show, THE ROAD BACK, about my journey from depression to recovery, directed by Padraic Lillis (The Farm Theater) at The Reel Mind Festival in Rochester, NY this fall. I performed the play for a successful three week run at The Chain Theatre in New York City in the spring. The play was developed in Judy Gold’s Solo Performance class at ESPA/Primary Stages and with Padraic in several staged readings and a workshop production in 2019.

I have performed my solo docudrama, A Line in the Sand, about the Columbine High School massacre, in nine theater festivals, including The Planet Connections Theatre Festivity in NYC (Outstanding Production of a Solo Show award), The Midtown International Theatre Festival (Outstanding Production of a Solo Show), United Solo Festival, The New York Fringe, The Edinburgh Fringe, and PortFringe (Portland, Maine), and in many high schools across the U.S. and in Tangier, Morocco.

For my first play, Tell Me About Adina, a solo show, based on the life of my grandmother after whom I was named, I was nominated for a Bay Area Theater Critics Circle award for Best Solo Performance. I am the artistic director of Chrysalis Theatre Company. For our inaugural production, Barking Girl by Susan Bernfield, I played the main character, Rae. I have worked at a number of theaters in New York, including Ensemble Studio Theatre, Manhattan Theater Source, Looking Glass Theater, Pulse Ensemble Theatre, and The Gallery Players.
