Latest News

Hello,

Summer is here!

Time to get away and relax and soak up some sun. ☀️🏖️

2025 has been an exciting time creatively for me.

After two years of working on a new play, She Takes Flight, with my theater company, Chrysalis, we just finished a wonderful 3 week run at The Chain Theatre this spring in NYC, and we had lovely, supportive audiences.

SHE TAKES FLIGHT is a newly devised theatrical production that delves into the personal experiences of five women, aged from their late 40s to late 60s, navigating the complexities of mid-life in New York City in 2025. The play explores themes of womanhood, aging, empowerment, and identity through a series of poignant monologues and ensemble scenes.

The reviews are in...

“This ensemble is electric—each woman brings truth, vulnerability, and bite to the stage.” – Theatre Beyond Broadway

“It’s the kind of play that grabs you by the heart and doesn’t let go.” – Electronic Link Journey

“The piece crackles with specificity and complexity.” – A Work Unfinishing

In other news, the last weekend of June, I’m headed to Arkansas for The Hot Springs International Women’s Film Festival where my short film, SIZZLE, is being screened. I can’t wait to meet other women filmmakers and to explore the town.

Wishing you a peaceful, restorative, and fun summer.

Warmly,

Adina

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME…

I live in New York City with my husband and two daughters. I was raised in San Diego, and I grew up riding horses. I got my MFA in acting from American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. After I graduated, I started writing, producing, teaching, and marching for gun violence prevention.

Most recently, I performed my critically acclaimed new solo show, THE ROAD BACK, about my journey from depression to recovery, directed by Padraic Lillis (The Farm Theater) at The Reel Mind Festival in Rochester, NY this fall. I performed the play for a successful three week run at The Chain Theatre in New York City in the spring. The play was developed in Judy Gold’s Solo Performance class at ESPA/Primary Stages and with Padraic in several staged readings and a workshop production in 2019.

I have performed my solo docudrama, A Line in the Sand, about the Columbine High School massacre, in nine theater festivals, including The Planet Connections Theatre Festivity in NYC (Outstanding Production of a Solo Show award), The Midtown International Theatre Festival (Outstanding Production of a Solo Show), United Solo Festival, The New York Fringe, The Edinburgh Fringe, and PortFringe (Portland, Maine), and in many high schools across the U.S. and in Tangier, Morocco.

For my first play, Tell Me About Adina, a solo show, based on the life of my grandmother after whom I was named, I was nominated for a Bay Area Theater Critics Circle award for Best Solo Performance. I am the artistic director of Chrysalis Theatre Company. For our inaugural production, Barking Girl by Susan Bernfield, I played the main character, Rae. I have worked at a number of theaters in New York, including Ensemble Studio Theatre, Manhattan Theater Source, Looking Glass Theater, Pulse Ensemble Theatre, and The Gallery Players.
